A Green Army is Forming!

Louisiana faces a myriad of environmental challenges but organizations from all over South Louisiana are coming together and joining forces to address these challenges. This newly formed alliance is led by retired Lt. General Russell Honore.

LEAN was proud to host a meeting of the coalition last Friday, 11/15/13, in Baton Rouge at the Burden Center. A special “Thank You” goes to the experts and advocates who spoke on current environmental issues facing Louisiana including:

John M. Barry – Coastal wetland loss due to the oil and gas industry.
Anne Rolfes – Refinery accidents: a chronic and increasing problem
Mike Schaff – Texas Brine and the Bayou Corne sinkhole disaster
A. Hays Town – The Baton Rouge Aquifer and the threat of saltwater intrusion
Nara Crowley – Lake Peigneur  and threats to the Chicot Aquifer
Lt. General Russel Honore – Fighting for our Survival, Our common cause.
There are many different environmental challenges facing Louisiana but we are rising to the occasion. The organizations and people of Louisiana are coming together to address these issues. Together we can make the changes Louisiana needs.
