The website that hosts the database of National Response Center submissions of the release of pollutants into the environment was taken down on February 21st and any future availability is somewhat uncertain.
If you follow our e-alerts you know that we began sending out a compilation of NRC reports submitted for releases of pollutants from facilities along the Mississippi River in the industrial corridor in Louisiana between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. We began sending out these monthly compilations in October. As we went to gather the submissions for February from the NRC website we found that it was down, and remains unavailable.
Our Gulf Monitoring Consortium partner SkyTruth received a statement from the US Coast Guard about the website outage in which they said:
“This process has not impacted the NRC’s ability to take and disseminate reports to first responders via our 800-424-8802 hotline.”
So, for the moment we are unable to access the NRC reports directly and cannot send you our usual compilation of NRC submissions in the River corridor for the month. We will keep you posted!
