The Louisiana Senate showed their true colors yesterday and voted, 23-15, to protect their pals in the oil and gas industry at the expense of the citizens of Louisiana. SB553, the bill to derail the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East lawsuit, passed through the Senate last night. Restore Louisiana Now’s recent poll found that 74% of Louisiana citizens don’t want the legislature to interfere with the lawsuit. Clearly the Louisiana Senate does not represent the interests of Louisiana Citizens but the special interests of the oil and gas industry. We need to remember that at election time.
The following Senators voted to derail the coastal lawsuit:
Senator Robert Adley
Senator Bret Allain
Senator “Jody” Amedee
Senator Sherri Smith Buffington
Senator Norbert Chabert
Senator Dan Claitor
Senator Page Cortez
Senator Jack Donahue
Senator Dale Erdey
Senator Elbert Guillory
Senator Ronnie Johns
Senator Gerald Long
Senator Daniel Martiny
Senator Dan Morrish
Senator Barrow Peacock
Senator Neil Riser
Senator Gary Smith
Senator John Smith
Senator Francis Thompson
Senator Mike Walsworth
Senator Rick Ward, III
Senator Mack White
