LEAN Members and Technical Advisor Publish Scientific Paper About BP Spill Contamination

LEAN members, Steve Kolian and Scott Porter, along with LEAN Technical Advisor, Wilma Subra, have published a scientific paper discussing the extent of hydrocarbon contamination in sediment, seawater, biota and seafood during/after the BP Oil disaster. This work was done with data furnished with support from Smith Stag and samples collected by Boston Chemical Data.…

Louisiana Facilities on EPA Watch List

The Environmental Protection Agency prepared separate “Watch List” for facilities in violation of the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. According to the EPA, polluters on the “Watch Lists” may be serious or chronic offenders, alleged violators of regulations, and/or being tracked for compliance with a court order.…

154 Environmental, Fishing, Chemical Reform, and Community Groups Demand Public Health Attention in the Wake of the BP Oil Disaster

A diverse coalition of 154 groups, including Waterkeeper Alliance, United Houma Nation, Association of Family Fishermen and 69 different Waterkeepers organizations, representing hundreds of thousands of community members around the country, Mexico and China, sent a letter to EPA Administrator Jackson and HHS Secretary Sebelius demanding action on the growing public health crisis on the Gulf Coast.…
