Governor Jindal issued an executive order Monday requiring all state and local agencies to review permits held by Texas Brine
In an article today, May 20, 2013, Governor Bobby Jindal took a strong stance in supporting the residents impacted by the Bayou Corne sinkhole. Governor Jindal issued an executive order Monday requiring all state and local agencies to review permits held by Texas Brine. This order came after Texas Brine issued a letter stating that they were unable to make settlement offers to residents as they had promised due to a disagreement among its insurance companies.
The excerpts below are a welcomed show of support and action from Governor Jindal as the impacted community has endured a mandatory evacuation order for over 9 months.
All options are on the table to force Texas Brine to begin making settlement offers, including state sponsored litigation, legislatively enacted regulatory changes as well as the permit review, Jindal said.
… if the company does not have the flexibility or the wherewithal to meet its obligations, the state may have to review its continued ability to do business in Louisiana
Jindal said he is tired of the delays and the excuses from the company.
